Speakeasy Meeting

Speakeasy Toastmasters held another successful meeting on February 16th. Mary Buckley was the capable and welcoming Toastmaster for the evening, and the other officers for the night included Anne Buckley as General Evaluator and Ray Ryan Jnr as Topicsmaster. The meeting also featured an address by the Area Governor, Sean Corcoran.
The First Speaker was Marie Fitzpatrick who delivered an excellent presentation based on one of the Special Occasion Speeches Manual projects. Michael Cronin evaluated Marie. Next was Dermot Meaney who delivered a fascinating speech about the origins of the concertina. Dermot’s speech fulfilled one of the Storytelling Manual projects and was evaluated by Pat Sexton.
Following Dermot was Michael Buckley, a member of the Crusaders Club from Cork, and a regular visitor to Speakeasy Toastmasters. Michael delivered a humorous presentation about the oppressed role of the Irish Male in our popular culture. Michael’s speech was based on a stage from the Entertaining Speaker Manual and was evaluated by Pat Duggan. Another visiting Toastmaster was Paula Kelleher, a member of the Glanmire Toastmasters Club. Paula completed with finesse a project from the Speeches by Management Manual, which inspired the audience to motivate themselves to excel in their work and family lives. Brian McLoughlin was Paula’s evaluator. Finally, Mary Buckley’s performance as Toastmaster was evaluated as Speciality Speeches Manual project by Vivienne Buckley.


Speakeasy Toastmasters will hold their next meeting at the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow, at 8;00PM, on March 2nd, when we will be hosting the Club Evaluation and Serious Speech Contests. Speakeasy meeting

Speakeasy Toastmasters held another successful meeting on February 2nd. Toastmaster for the evening was Jerry Mulcahy, who chaired the meeting in his usual genial manner. An entertaining topics session was conducted by Jeremiah Roynane.
The first speaker was Anne O’ Sullivan who completed the stage 4 project from the basic manual. Following Anne was Anne Buckley who completed the stage 9 project from the same manual. Anne described the benefits of potato consumption. Following Anne was Michael Cronin who delivered a highly entertaining speech from the Special Occasions Speeches manual. Then Vivienne Buckley completed the abstract concept stage from the Speaking to Inform manual which described the process of “Brainstorming”. Finally Ray Ryan Jnr delivered an education session which described the process of evaluation. After the tea break General Evaluator Sean Corcoran conducted an incisive General Evaluation session.
