Final Meeting

At the final meeting of the year we were treated to five wonderful speeches.   Pat Sexton was Toastmaster for the night.  Bobby Buckley was Topicsmaster and had us on our feet with topics “ A strange incident in your life?” and “Have you an unusual gadget in your life?”   Liam Jones a visiting member from the Failte Club was Timekeeper and Anne O’Donovan was General Evaluator.
The first speaker was Brendan Foley with a speech titled “It comes with a guarantee.”   Brendan explored the concept to be fit and unhealthy or to be healthy and unfit.  The only way to get fit and healthy is to be exercise, eat well, and get enough sleep.   May Moynihan evaluated Brendan’s speech.
Next up was  Jillian Harris with her Icebreaker speech titled “Moving House.”   Michael Cronin evaluated the speech and congratulated her on her first speech and wished her well on future speeches..
Valerie Murphy was another member with her Icebreaker speech titled “My father and I.”   Noel O’Connor evaluated Valerie’s speech and welcomed her to the club and congratulated her on a superb speech.
Claire O’Connell was next to the lectern with a speech titled “”Poetry.”  Claire recounted how poetry is an expression of ideas and feelings and she encouraged us to create our own poem.   Kieran Butler evaluated Claire’s speech.
The final speaker on the night was Anne Buckley with a speech titled “The Master.”  Anne completed her Advanced Communication Manual with this Special Occasions speech.   Don McSweeney evaluated Anne’s speech
Michael Cronin was the recipient of this year’s Speakeasy Toastmaster of the Year award.   Marie Fitzpatrick, President presented Michael with the Jerry Mulcahy Plaque.

As it was the final meeting for this season Marie Fitzpatrick, President handed over the Chain of Office to the incoming President, Helsa Giles.

We will be resuming again on Thursday  7th September and on alternate Thursdays at 8 p.m. sharp in the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow.  Please join us.  Guests are welcome and won’t be asked to speak.
